About Walkable Kochi

Kochi Municipal Corporation together with GIZ India has initiated a project ‘Walkable Kochi’, in coordination with the Center for Heritage Environment and Development (C-HED). The project aims to use a data and citizen-led approach to support investment into the most important walking networks in all 74 wards of Kochi, with a focus on enhancing safety, comfort, and accessibility for pedestrians.

Key objectives

Improve first and last-mile connectivity to bus & metro

Collect hyper local data at a ward level

Collaborate with citizens to audit footpaths and junctions

Use data to inform local priorities & budget allocation

Inviting all citizens of Kochi to join us!

Walk your neighbourhood and help conduct audits of the quality of footpaths and junctions!

An audit consists of assessing walkability across a variety of parameters using a smartphone, collecting geo-locations and photos.

Audits will take place weekday & weekends,
